Public Works
Definition
Construction, alteration, demolition, installation or repair work done under contract and paid for in whole or in part out of public funds, as defined in California Labor Code section 1720. On public works, contractors notify apprenticeship committees with a DAS-140, request apprentices with a DAS-142, and give preliminary notice to the public entity, because public property cannot carry a lien.
